A lesson in expansion

Consistency is Key

Consistency has been a significant meditation since my first career as a professional model. As I matured into adolescence, I learned that my idea of success requires constant sustained effort in the direction of my goals. I also learned that my joy isn’t on hold for the accomplishment but is instead the sweet and sustaining soundtrack of my journey. As I am steeped in my second career as a music and art making medicine womban, I am enjoying the bliss of walking with the Master and embracing the tests that provide the runway for my testimonies.

The Call

Before the close of 2023, I received an email to my website with a request for a drum circle for a client who planned to host a conference for a group of leaders in Savannah Feb 2024. This message came to me while I was working at the studio with my producer, something I have been doing consistently for the last three years. By day we work on sound jobs for many churches and entertainment centers around Savannah and by night we build upon my debut album also entitled, The Remedy. On this particular day, I felt delighted to know that a kind soul all the way in DC was willing to trust me with the pleasure of facilitating a circle with members from his company.

The message came from the COO of The American Public Transportation Association and when he let me know that the circle would be for up to 100 people my mind started to search for how I could make it happen because at the time, I only had enough instruments for about 30 guests. I recall speaking with Cyndi Satlow of Tribe Savannah about the opportunity and my need to secure way more instruments then I usually carry. She offered a warm smile, as per the usual in our encounters, and affirmed that I would find a way. Little did we know, later on that she would became part of that way as she supported me in a couple handfuls of her bells and hand percussion instruments in exchange for support that I offered for her Multicultural Holiday Dance Party.

Still in need of more drums, my intuition led me to a father and son duo - Brother Major and Baba Majid - two awesome souls with which I have had the pleasure of drumming with many times before. To my delight he and his father were up for joining me and my instrument quota was filled. Inside I did my best to keep the butterflies in peace, as this would be the largest circle booking to date in my 5 years of facilitation experience.

The Significance

As the new year approached I welcomed the fulfillment of a successful circle facilitation for the teen retreat of Hemophilia of Georgia, an abundant opportunity birthed from a recommendation from a sister in service. With deep gratitude and fulfillment, I received the significant lesson that following the beat of my own drum and acting on the guidance from Most High is a such a sweet approach to offering my services in the marketplace. These opportunies didn’t require my attempts at popular selling techniques or the creation of some sophisticated marketing strategy. These clients sought me out while I sincerely and consistently focused on aligning my talents with creative activities that simply felt good.

Test Time

In a blink December turned into February and client emails and calls turned into a message confirming I was enroute. However, a few hours prior my confirmed photographer let me know he wouldn’t be able to come and the two others I reached out to were already booked. Though would have loved to have this experience professionally documented I chose to surrender and focus on what I could control. A few moments after Dad and I arrived at the JW Marriot, I received a text from Brother Major stating that he and his Dad were running a bit behind schedule. In my mind I affirmed all is in order and I’m sure you both will be here at the perfect time. I took a deep breath, smiled and encouraged him to share an eta with me when he could.This inspired me to deeply observe myself as I noticed a unique response. Instead of seeing my mind jump on the express stress train, I smiled and simply reminded myself that everything was in divine alignment. This reflection inspired me to joy as I knew my consistency in choosing peace inside had reached automation status even in a situation were stress could have been a tempting choice.

In the perfect time Brother Major and Baba Majid arrived with so much love and abunda instruments. We set the circle up with 15 minutes to spare and once every guests picked their seat we got straight into the groove. It was an honor to facilitate a group of leaders from all over the country. No matter what tests we all faced prior to our arrival, we made it to the circle and got into the groove in ways both seen and unseen.

The Testimony

In reality, all our everything comes from the same Creator of all things. Our blessings as well as our tests and challenges all have the same origin. I am thankhful to welcome the expansion of my territory coupled with the expansion of my resolve to choose peace and trust my inner guidance no matter how mighty the mountain before me may appear. Sure things can always be improved and I do my best to plan and prepare. But I must say there is so much fulfillment in being fully present with what the Cr8tor is providing in the moment by moment, the play by play. I love creating in-the-moment music with people I am meeting for the first time. I love how spontaneity, wonder, and fulfillment always find us in the circle. Perhaps my experience can serve as encouragement for you, dear soul. No matter what path you choose as you engage with expansion, I encourage you to always remember that consistency is key and when the test comes, trust that the thoughts and feelings you have been studying on the inside will shine through your actions and words on the outside.

I encourage you to study your true nature - a peace that can’t be moved by circumstances or captured on any camera. Study this peace which provides the solid foundation for your true and lasting happiness. As tests come to strengthen you, I encourage you to hold steady to the vision of truth and prosperity you have chosen for yourself. And when you pass the tests with flying colors, I encourage you to share your happiness with others, and do so often.
