I started playing basketball in the 8th grade. One of my best friends, Sada and I, were nearly 6 feet tall and although I didn’t make the cut in 7th grade she encouraged me to try out again. I made the team and little did I know at the time, I also made my way into a pathway to harvest priceless life lessons.
In high school, training for the season was quite different then our middle school days. Once the leaves had fallen off the trees and the temperature began to drop - we started practice. But weeks before any of us could even think about touching a basketball, Coach initiated us into the process of conditioning. We ran, and ran and ran, and did various drills and ran some more. Though challenging and taxing on our growing bodies, the conditioning process definitely strengthened our endurance and lung capacity long before we took ever took a shot on the goal.

Let’s Break it Down
The definition of conditioning is :the process of training or accustoming a person or animal to behave in a certain way or to accept certain circumstances. In our case, the certain circumstance was a state championship that we were blessed to take home in 2007.
As I reflect, I find the conditioning process to have been a major key to the successes I have been blessed with in my academic and professional modeling career. As I continue to grow and reflect on the human condition, I find that we are always in the process of preparing for an outcome as the thoughts we think and actions we take either create a condition or strengthen one we have already established. It is in fact how we are conditioned which determines the eventual outcome of our efforts long before we take the first step.
A Training in Trust
As you know, I’ve just released a nu song entitled Don’t Doubt. This song along with many others on The Remedy have been in the works for the last 5 years. As I look back, I see how much like Coach, the Gr8 Creator was conditioning my heart, mind and body for this certainly successful path. As I consistently show up and ebb with my daily flow, I deepen my roots and strengthen my resolve to simply trust the process.
After all…
How about you Dear Soul?
What are you training for? What conditions in thought and deed are you enteraining and for what outcome? Are you in shape to recieve the very things you have been praying for? Perhaps you may find your self on what seems like an endless run that is testing your patience, your endurance, and your dream destination. May I remind you to press on and don’t doubt that you are precisely were you need to be right now to do the most good. I caution you not to wait until game day to put in the work and dedication that your unique path requires. Remember how you practice, dear soul, is precisely how you perform.
Thankh you
